I mentioned AI Agents before. In this post I will dive deeper into them and explain the fuzz around them and explain how they can be very useful for businesses like yours. I will also present you with some use cases that really have brought value to myself and my customers.
What is the fuzz about?
Bill Gates has recently shared his insights on the future of AI agents, emphasizing their potential to transform everyday life and the software industry. He stated that “software is still pretty dumb” as of 2023, but he predicts a significant evolution in AI technology over the next five years, where everyone will have access to a personal AI agent capable of performing a wide range of tasks.
Gates envisions these agents as proactive assistants that can make suggestions before users even ask for them. He elaborated that these AI agents will be able to handle complex tasks, such as planning vacations, making restaurant reservations based on personal preferences, and even managing social interactions by reminding users of important events in their friends’ lives. He noted that currently, achieving such personalized service often requires the assistance of a human travel agent, but AI will soon make this level of service widely accessible and automated.
He also highlighted the broader implications of AI agents across various sectors, including healthcare and education, where they could assist with triage, provide personalized learning experiences, and enhance productivity in the workplace. Gates believes that as competition in the AI space grows, the cost of these agents will decrease, making them available to a larger audience.
In summary, Gates sees AI agents not just as tools for efficiency but as transformative entities that will change how we interact with technology and manage our daily lives, marking a significant shift in the computing landscape [1][2][4][5].

My personal opinion
I have not always agreed with Gates, but on this subject, we can definitely agree that Agents are very powerful and will change the future of automation! They in fact already do! Read on if you are curious how, read on!
Examples
These are some daily examples:
- Order Automation Agent For an ecommerce website, the coplete order processing and delivery workflow (including emails, tracking and delivery) was automated by a crew of ai Agents. This was realized using Llama 3.1 204B on groq.com. And the Open Source Crew AI platform.
- Content generator and Social Media Poster: For a customer I created a simple Agent that creates new posts on Facebook daily. The business owner is very content with this autonomous Agent. It saves him 2 – 4 hours per day. Time that he could use better to help hus customers personally.
- For a Pum, Dutch organization, operating worlwide, a reqruitment agent was created, allowing to match candidates to job descripttons fully automatically and inform the candidate as well as the Human Resources dpt. automatically in case of a match.
These are just a few examples of what AI agents can do. For a full list of use cases, see this article.
