What are the skills required to sucesfully embrace AI?

In an earlier blogpost I posted a youtube video of Wes Roth. Wes is just like me, an AI enthousiast and just like me, he was an IT Consultant before. Not that it’s necessary, it’s just very convenient if you are interested in Coding and programming.

Once you start using ChatGpt, you will automatically develop the natural feeling of how you can talk to it and get better at chatting with it in order to get the most out of it. Like Wes, after ChatGpt came out in late 2022 I started talking to it and spent a few thousand hours just doing that.

It’s easy, ChatGpt will help you. To get an overview of the main commands, just ask it:

What are your commands?

And it will answer you:

I can perform various tasks and assist you in multiple ways. Here are some of the commands and tools I can use:

Tools:

  1. bio: Store and recall information about you to better tailor my responses.
  2. dalle: Generate images from text descriptions.
  3. browser: Search the web for real-time information or browse specific URLs.
  4. python: Execute Python code for calculations, data analysis, and other tasks.

Actions:

  • Create Blog Articles: I can write SEO-optimized, government-friendly blog articles with images and formatted text.
  • Generate and Modify Images: I can create or modify images based on detailed prompts.
  • Data Analysis: I can analyze data using Python and present it in a user-friendly format.
  • Research and Summarize Information: I can search the web for the latest information or specific details and summarize them for you.

If you need anything specific, just let me know!

Just go ahead and play with that. Before you know your first 1000 hours are done and you are well underway of becoming an experienced Prompt Engineer.

From there, just ask ChatGpt to help you with your daily tasks, like creating emails for you or summarize complicated reports. For me the “WOW-Moment” came after I was asked by my landlord to pay an unrealistic high bill. I asked him to request officially by email and asked ChatGpt to answer the email, which it did. This was the last time I ever heard about the matter again and since this was two years ago I am confident I will never hear something about it anymore. This happened shortly after I heard that ChatGPT had passed the American Bar Association’s exam and therefore was an official lawyer.

Conclusion

In order to understand and appreciate what modern AI can do for you, you don’t need to have any advanced skills. Just get handson experience in Prompt Engineering. Once you have enough experience with this you can always decide to take your experience with these systems a step further.
